Why we built Lofft
The drone industry is fragmented. We're fixing that.
Finding a reliable drone pilot in South Africa shouldn't be a gamble. And being a drone pilot shouldn't mean spending half your time chasing invoices on WhatsApp. But for most of the industry, that's exactly how it works.
Clients have no easy way to check if a pilot is actually CAA licensed, insured, and qualified for the job. Pilots have no central place to find work or guarantee they'll get paid. Every informal arrangement is a risk for both sides. We built Lofft to fix that.
For clients
Post a job, review verified operator profiles, and book with payment held until you approve the work. Aviation compliance stays with the booked CAA-licensed operator.
For pilots
Apply to jobs that match your skills, get booked by real clients, and receive secure, protected payment. Funds are held on your behalf and released upon client approval.
For the industry
Contract listings require a valid RPC, C of R for the UA that will fly, R1M public liability insurance naming that UA, and coverage under a ROC (as holder or listed crew). We check documents; we do not fly.

Lofft was founded with a deep understanding of South African aviation. Our founder comes from a fixed wing aviation background and has firsthand knowledge of how airspaces, regulations, and CAA compliance work in practice. Through close relationships with drone pilots across the country, we saw the same problems repeating: fragmented work, unreliable clients, and no proper system to connect the two sides of the industry.
We built Lofft to solve this. Most clients have no idea what an RPC is, what insurance a pilot should carry, or whether someone is actually allowed to fly commercially. They shouldn't have to become the operator. We check listing documents before a contract profile goes live, so clients can book independent, CAA-licensed operators and the operator remains legally responsible for the flight.
For pilots, we wanted to create a platform where qualified professionals can find real work, receive secure protected payment, and build their reputation. Listings appear as verified operators go live.
Our mission is straightforward: make it simple to book professional drone services from independent operators, and give pilots a reliable marketplace to grow their business. Lofft does not fly the aircraft.
